I saw this on Miss Crossstitch blog today. I'm very tempted to go out looking for embroiderable objects out in the city now.

Day 25 → Your day, in great detail

Oh how exciting >_>

My alarm goes of at 7:20 am, but M's is generally set for 7 so I'm already awake by the time mine goes. I crawl out of the bed and into something warm. (I recently read that reddit's office has the following clothing policy -genitals must be covered.) If crawling out of bed did not take very long, I make myself some yoghurt diluted with milk for breakfast - it is much faster to drink that way. By 7:40 I'm sitting in the car on the way to work :)

At work, I deactivate the server room alarm and turn the heater on, then settle down in my seat (sometimes with a big cup of green tea) and do my mourning routines (provided that no one left me any messages saying they need my help). My boss comes in half an hour later and we exchange our never changing morning greetings, then it is back to doing what needs to be done, or more frequently trying to figure out how to do it :D I'm glad I have the time to learn lots of stuff during the work hours. Every once in a while someone will call or e-mail me or drop into the office and tell me that something isn't working, or ask me to set something up. Sometimes I have a PC to put together and run the installs on, other times I order more stuff for the store room.

If I'm not terribly busy, at 10:15 I have my morning tea - generally something like a banana in the company of G, R, M and or P. It gets pretty noisy in the lunch-room so we like to sit outside (but we have not done that at all since the snow). Then it's back to work again until 12:45. At lunch I tend to do my personal internetting, bug G and co. and replenish the essential nutrients. And then it's back to work again until afternoon tea, then home at 16:40. Some days I seem to be in high demand, go to different parts of the factory and talk to lots of people, other days I can feel pretty isolated up in my office busy doing things that require me to be almost glued to the PC.

I go for a brisk walk to the bus stop (If I leave work on the dot of 16:40, I can just make it in time for the bus and dodge the worst of the traffic, even a minute late and I have to wait for the next bus which takes much longer to get home).

Once home, I feed the cats, turn the heat pump on and settle down with my laptop ^^;;; Plussy often wants attention and cuddles and Ergo only lets me pat her after work.

M. normally gets home 30 to 60 minutes after I do and we have a lil chat and a snack and sometimes go out to TZ to play Technika or Mandurang or to visit  a friend or watch TV (but now the two TV series we used to watch have finished o-o~!), sometimes we get surprise visits from my parents. But soon I want to go to sleep, so I take the kitty cats into the bedroom and pull the duvet over my head.

Day 24 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Snappy's Sausage Necklace

Is this weird or what? :D I don't think I'd ever wear it, but the idea is wonderful. Wunderbar even ^-~

Hippo in the Park

"In Victorian times, young ladies would ride their hippos through the parks. This painting shows a proper lady riding sidesaddle while her well-bred hippo steps out in style."

Day 23 → A YouTube video

You should proabably turn the sound down.

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to be an engineer. ;)

Day 22 → A website

Dark Roasted Blend - Weird and Wonderful things is a compilation website consisting of picture and link posts - amusing, weird, arty, vintage, bizarre things. Like this optical illusions video and pictures of the abandoned sky-scraper hotel in North Korea.

Day 20 → A hobby of yours

Ties in pretty well with yesterday's post, does not it ^^?

I read (when I get around to it), and doodle (because painting takes just too much time), and knit (while watching TV, because TV is too boring u-u;;; and I have no attention span), and play with my cats, and try learn a bit of Japanese and play rhythm games (because cheesy J and K pop makes me feel more upbeat but I don't like listening to music while doing other things because it is noisy :D).

P.S. And I don't know when I'm supposed to use commas.

Day 19 → A talent of yours

talent

[tal-uhnt] Example Sentences Origin

tal·ent

noun
1.
a special natural ability or aptitude: a talent for drawing.
2.
a capacity for achievement or success; ability: young men of talent.
To be perfectly honest, I don't really believe in the first definition of talent, and most people would have the same capacity for achievement or success (2), so this is going to be a silly post.

I feel that what is called a talent is generally just something one was taught early on, or spent lots of time and effort perfecting. A sill would be a far more appropriate word. Isn't it lovely that I'm so cynical?
I guess I can paint and make things out of beads, these are just things that interested me and I spent lots of time learning and practising them so it does not feel very special.

I guess I'm also kind of good at remembering certain things - like numbers and where things are, but I find that I tend to make an effort or be genuinely interested in something to remember it.  And I'm terrible at remembering names and faces ^^;;;

Day 18 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Umm, so today I've been reading about setting up and using Dynamic Groups in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 *looks down*

Oh and I really want a Samsung Galaxy S III ^^;; it seems so completely wrong to spend that much money on a telephone but its technical specifications are disturbingly close to that of my laptop, so I guess it makes some sense after all. Unfortunately all present giving occasions I could use as an excuse to get one for myself (or ask for it as a present) are clustered together in summer, starting with M's and mine anniversary, followed by Christmas, New Years, My birthday and St. Valentine's day. Of Course M's birthday is right there as well, just to cause a huge nasty present rush (add both my parents' birthdays into the same time period) and leaving all the time from March up to the last week of November completely present free.

That's more or less how my logic worked anyway. I guess I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas.

Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

Yoskay Yamamoto

Go look through his gallery ^-^;;; There are a few original characters as well and so many familiar faces ^-^

Day 16 → A song that makes you cry (or nearly)

When you are in a certain mindset, a song can push you to the edge, while the same song would have little or no effect in different circumstances. There are certainly many songs I avoid listening to when I'm feeling down, but no one song in particular that would make me cry each and every time.

I guess if I had to list a song, it would be

Day 15 → A fanfic

Somehow I never managed to get into fan fiction. I tried reading it a few times but they never fit my ideas of what the characters should be like :) I read lots of web-comics instead.

Check out Yellow Peril Something Positive and Questionable content if you want to waste a few days reading comics. The last two have started in 2001 and 2003 respectively, if you start from the most recent stories and work your way back, you can see how much the graphics have changed.

Day 14 → A non-fictional book

"Until quite recently, we all thought that the history of mathematics begins with Babylonian and Egyptian arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. However, three recent discoveries have changes the picture entirely.
The first of these discoveries was made by A. Seidenberg. He studied the altar constructions in the Indian Sulvasutras and found that in theses relatively ancient texts..."

From The History of mathematics: A reader by J. Fauvel and J. Gray.

Do you like history, learning a tiny bit about different ancient cultures and adore mathematics? Go read this book.

Day 13 → A fictional book

A fictional book - hmm a book that is not real? I guess books that are referred to in stories but do not exist would be prime candidates for this blog entry (of course I'm not going to assume I'm supposed to write about a book of fiction here), but one book in particular comes to mind - Codex Seraphinianus. On par with the Voynich manuscript, it is one of the weirdest books you might come across. True, it is an actual book, it was even published in 1981 (and probably based loosely on the Voynich manuscript which dates to the 15th century).

Both are encyclopaedias of imaginary worlds, written in a made up languages, beautifully and extensively illustrated. I'll just post a couple pages from the Codex. Go find it in your local library. (I might or might not have a copy of it in pdf to flick through and induce nightmares ^-~)

It is wonderfully surreal.

Oh, I would love to make a crazy book like that one day. A single, hand written, hand bound, hand illustrated volume.

Day 12 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Things I'm exited about -

Getting my Instax Mini in the post ^-^ looking forward to it. It took me a while to decide on the mini vs the 210 (photo-booth vs standard "wide" film) and I still think I'd like a 210 as well ^-^ But I'll see how it goes first.
I've never had a Polaroid camera before (apart from an i-zone, which was a bit weird, super tiny and I only had two cartridges of film, so it does not count ^^), so I'm very excited but also a bit unsure as to how well it'll go.

One of the cooler/cheesier things about the Instax Mini is that you can get film with cute frames - Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, various other Disney ones + just patterns and colours. But I probably will have to order my film overseas and pay a bit extra for it, so I'll have to get used to use the exposures (10 in a cartridge) sparingly.

I paid for the camera today, so with any luck it'll get here by the weekend ^^;; Hope it's just as cute in real life. I'm thinking of putting some stickers on it ^^

I think it will be quite nice to have when we go to Japan next year (I wanted to go this August, but it will have to be next August since we don't know when M will be out of work - he can't take a holiday at all). I plan on trying out couch surfing to and I think it will be cool to take pics with the hosts ^^ Anyway, that's just hopes and dreams for now.

Day 11 → A photo of you taken recently

Ahhh! It's hard to get a recent photo of me, M's phone keeps on corrupting its memory card and I lost a bunch of photos due to that u-u. Now I've got a nasty flu (way to spend the long weekend u-u) so I don't much fancy taking a pic of myself and this blog entry had stalled the "Blogathron" for far too long. I shall re-visit this at a later date.
It's snowing *-* whee
